Saturday November 24th is Small Business Saturday! If you’re not familiar with what Small Business Saturday is, let me get you up to Speed! In an effort to support local shops that make our communities strong, American Express launches Small Business Saturday on the Saturday after Thanksgiving to encourage people to Shop Small and bring more holiday shopping to small businesses. As shopping small catches on in the community Small Business Saturday goes from a cause, to a day of community celebration. Here are ways you can help support Tribute on Small Business Saturday.

Did you know that when you buy products from your stylist, you’re not only supporting the salon business, you’re supporting their continued education? You are giving them opportunities to Travel to academy’s, opportunities for guest artist to come into the salon, learning new trends, new color techniques, or new styling techniques. In return, they use those new techniques and trends on you! This is huge for a Salon business, because that’s what keeps your stylist up to date. That’s what helps create new looks for you. They are constantly learning, and it’s all because you trusted them, supported them, and shopped local. When you buy those same products from other stores, amazon, or another source. That’s a lost opportunity for your stylist. Being a stylist myself, I will be the first to say that we don’t sell products just to sell them. We recommend products because we genuinely believe it’s what you need to maintain the service we’ve provided. The “product conversation” is one of the hardest conversations to have with clients. There is a misconception that Salons charge a premium for products, when we actually charge the same and sometimes even less than other retailers.

Next time you are searching for a product, try going to your local salon and supporting their small business. By shopping small you’re fueling the Shop Small Movement every time you pick up a latte at the local coffee shop, or buy a new bag at the neighborhood boutique. That’s supporting the small businesses that make our community vibrant and unique.
